YTMND’s presentation of our future in all its horrifying glory.
What is there to be said? Words no longer played, nor the tintinnabulation of her voice. What is there left to be said? Silvery resonance once tune to the moon, but the tune of my heart is now gone.
Where is there to be said?
She is gone.
"Not a bit of her is gone," Gast said slowly, gathering his thoughts. He knew how delicate he would have to be here, and lightly added, "Not according to the laws of science, anyway."
He watched Vincent, knowing his heart was broken, that he’d forever be changed by this day in some small way. Forever changed. There, that was the key to it all.
"According to the law of conservation of energy, the energy that made up your mother was always here…and always will be. No energy gets created in the universe, and none is destroyed. Every particle that ever made up her body, every bit of heat she produced, every vibration of the electrons that sang in her molecules are still with us all."
Gast gave a little smile then, lightly squeezing on Vincent’s shoulder.
"Not only that," he continued, his voice a bit stronger now, "Every beam of sunlight that reflected off her face, every molecule of air that was moved by her smiles, her laughter, has had its course in the universe forever changed by her presence. The universe itself has been impacted by your mother."
He furrowed his brow somewhat. Maybe everlasting energy wasn’t so comforting? Maybe Vincent would need something else. He’d certainly give it everything he had.
"Note well too that she lives on in the tangled web of neurons that make up your brain, your personality, who you are. Every memory you have of her has been branded into the neural network, each synapse mapping out her kindness and love for you. You may forget a little as time passes, but your mind has been forever shaped by her. She lives on through you, in your DNA, in your mitochondria in particular. She is a part of you, your cells perform respiration due to her, and the two of you can never be separated—a bond that only a mother and her child can have."
Gast let his hand drop from Vincent’s shoulder, and took a step back, letting it all wash over him. She would be missed, certainly, but he hoped Vincent could feel her remnants vibrating in the air, the trees, the grass around them. He hoped Vincent could feel her with each beat of his heart, with each thought, with each breath.
"The universe is forever changed because of her existence. She will never be gone."
(Hey dudes, if you want to watch me awkwardly role play Professor Gast, here it is.)
#oh no #nope #nein #this was completely and utterly unnecessary #why is this #I mean #now of course I want all the rule 63ed Frollo #gaunt sharp-edged implacable Mistress of Justice #she wanted to be a martyr but Rome fell long ago—she wanted to be a mystic bride of christ but the visions never came #so instead she is this—Sophia and Justita; blind and never-stinting #her flesh mortified and her will righteous #but then #Esmerelda #dancing on the rue de la cite #the love is still terrible and twisted; the shame is still burning under Frollo’s skin however she tries to fisplace it #…but god do I want that story
It was just going to be a sketch and then my hand slipped
oh my actual god yes yes yes
I’m open for ONE EMERGENCY SLOT for $30. I overspent by about $30 and mis-budgeted something really important like a dummy, instead of being a responsible adult. For your infinite patience and gratuitous charity, I will draw a picture for you in the style represented by the two images above! Drop a line in my ask box with your email address if you’re interested.
Help a friend out! I assure you the result will be top notch. :)
inFORM is a Dynamic Shape Display where users can interact with digital information in a tangible way rendering 3D content physically. The project, made in MIT Labs, can also interact with the physical world around it, for example moving objects on the table’s surface.
